Following the success of Transition City Lancaster’s Harvest Feast in 2018 and 2019 FoodFutures have taken up the baton and will host a Harvest Feast on Friday 20 October.

What is the Harvest Feast?

The Harvest Feast is for anyone who gets their hands dirty growing food or would like to get involved in community food growing. This includes backyard food growers, people with an allotment, and those who are part of a community food project or farm. Please pass on information about this event to anyone who grows food, for “harvest is a joyful time of gathering the produce of the land”.

The idea behind the Harvest Feast is to bring food to share for a sit-down feast, veggie or vegan, so as many people as possible can join in. This is a celebration of the variety of local food that can be grown, cooked, and preserved here in North Lancashire. It is a chance to learn new recipes and share old favourites.

Food can be served cold or can be heated up at the venue. The venue is fully licensed so please feel free to bring juices, cordials, homemade wines, and champagne.

A few activities will run before and during dinner to support people in meeting each other and learning about the year’s growing highlights and challenges. People will also have the opportunity to learn more about the Food Champion Network which aims to connect people and projects across the area.

Want to come?

If you would like to attend, it is essential to book a place so that we can ensure everyone has room to sit at this big community meal. Please fill out this simple form to register. To add to the festivities we welcome people to bring instruments and their voices so we can join in a musical celebration. If there is enough interest I will extend the room booking until 10 pm.

Event Details

The Harvest Feast is on Friday 20 October and will run from 6 pm – 9 pm at The Centre, Halton, Low Road, Halton-on-Lune. The event is free of charge, however, we do ask that people arrive at 6 pm to help set up the room and stay to clean up/wash up after the meal. We will also have a donation box to help cover the cost of room hire.

If the Harvest Feast goes well, FoodFutures may run it as an annual event, so please help spread the word.
