Apple juicing, cooking demonstrations, live music, community displays and a big shared lunch will be on the menu at Lancaster’s annual Harvest Feast.
The event at Kanteena on Sunday September 20, will give attendees the opportunity to meet fellow food enthusiasts, growers, food club organisers, composters and cooks, and exchange tips and recipes.

Activities will include bbq cooking demos, apple juicing, music, and displays from local organisations to share all the great work happening in the Lancaster District – including growing, composting, and sustainable food practices.
From 11am, there will be an apple juicer onsite at Kanteena for people to bring their own apples to juice, cooking demonstrations and tasters, community food stalls, a recipe swap, and kids activities with Molly Bland.
Then from 12pm there will be an official welcome, followed by the feast itself.
All attendees are encouraged to bring a seasonal vegetarian or vegan dish – savoury or sweet – to share.
Locally grown and sourced food is encouraged wherever possible, and all dishes should have a clearly marked ingredients and allergens list – including whether it contains gluten or not.
Anna Clayton, from FoodFutures North Lancashire, which is organising the event alongside Closing Loops and Kanteena said: “The Harvest Feast is a time to gather, celebrate the ‘golden work’ going on in our district and share food, recipes and the joy of working with local food.
“Meet fellow food enthusiasts, growers, food club organisers, citizen journalists, fermenters, plotters, composters, gleaners, food champions, regenerative enterprises, pots of possibility projects, cooks and chefs. Exchange tips and recipes, stories about what has worked and what hasn’t, and enjoy a Sunday of community.”
