Anaerobic Ferments for anyone interested in growing
With Matt Dunwell
Working with microbes has become a hot topic among organic growers. It may feel overwhelming to try to pick your way through aerobic composting tea as advocated by Elaine Ingham, anaerobic fermentation as advocated by Jairo Restrepo, or the JADAM preparations largely coming out of South Korea.
Matt is familiar with all three different approaches and seeks the positive attributes of each.
In this one day course, Matt will take you through:
* The production of lactobacillus – used for compost, foliar feed, pesticide and bokashi.
* Compost making using lactobacillus – the basis of a good soil.
* Collecting and cultivating Native Microbes
* Biofertilisers – production and application
* Biochar production and use in the garden
* Easy Bokashi
Participants will come away with samples of Native Microbe Solid (NMS) and Biofertiliser. Matt will
also provide a trouble shooting service after the course for 6 months. He is interested in participants practicing and developing preparations and would be keen to follow up with further
advanced courses if required.
Join this session if you’re a farmer, grower or interested in growing food at any scale, big or small, and want to start making your own biofertiliser.
30 September, 9am-4.30pm at Summerhouse Farm, Ashton Road, Lancaster
In addition to being a biofertiliser expert, Matt brings 35 years of experience running Ragmans farm, farming livestock, growing vegetables, and managing a commercial orchard and juicing business. He has been teaching for 30 years and is lead tutor on the Bristol SHIFT course.
