Telling stories from your community
A citizen journalism workshop day for anyone interested in writing for community magazines
Are you interested in writing magazine articles, and telling interesting stories from your local community? And are you keen to help build a local food system that is healthy, sustainable and fair?
FoodFutures’ popular North Lancashire community food magazine THRIVE is hosting a day-long workshop for people interested in developing their skills in writing magazine articles. The day will take you through all aspects of creating an interesting article from finding a good story, interviewing people and writing your story up.
The workshop is free, and includes lunch.
The day will include:
- A fun and dynamic session on article-writing from magazine writer Georgia Tindale.
- A practical, lively session on writing an interesting article for THRIVE from its editor Jim Greenan.
- A guest talk – guest TBC.
Whether you’re new to writing for magazines, or experienced THRIVE writer, we hope you’ll find the day enjoyable and inspiring.
You are also warmly invited to join the free monthly citizen journalism training sessions with Georgia Tindale at the Cornerstone in Lancaster, every last Tuesday of the month, 17:30-18:30; and an extra zoom session on 11 November. Email thrive@lessuk.org to sign up, or just bring your pen and turn up.
