Spring Into Action: mapping our place
Would you like to take part in a unique art project that plans to capture the history of Lancaster Marsh?
Join local artist Sarah Hymas and Friends of Freeman’s Wood Trustee Shawn Duckers to help map the real history of the Marsh and Freeman’s Wood. We’re inviting local residents to bring their memories and artsy skills of any level to contribute.
Date: Saturday 26 April 2025 11 – 15:00.
Venue: Drop by the mapping station, situated on the accessible path in Freeman’s Wood Meadow, near the New Quay Road entrance, anytime between 11am – 3pm.
Everyone is welcome.
Book via TryBooking to be reminded of this session.
Or join in with a drawing:
Everyone living and working in Lancaster is also invited to contribute simple, hand drawn images of trees, plants, wildlife or buildings. These could be recognisable to either the Ridge or the Marsh / Freeman’s Wood, or ones that are more general. The drawings will then be used as icons on the maps.
To take part, don’t spend more than 10 mins on a maximum of 4 drawings on one A4 sheet; then take a photo and send it to mappingourplace@gmail.com by Easter. Thank you!
