Launch event: Lancaster District Allotment Review

Come along to enjoy a seasonal community meal and hear about the findings of the Lancaster District Allotment Review and its recommendations for Lancaster City Council, allotment sites and others…

This eight month project looked at the present provision of allotments in Lancaster District and their characteristics (e.g size and facilities), how they are used and run, their contribution to biodiversity, their climate resilience, the demand for allotments, other community-led food growing models in the District, future visions for allotments and support needs.

Information for the review was collected through a series of site visits to 21 allotment sites, an online survey (with nearly 250 responses), interviews, community conversations and by reviewing relevant reports and online research. A summary of the report and the recommendations will be presented, followed by a Q&A session.

The community meal will be provided by Closing Loops community chef network and will offer an opportunity to meet other people who are interested in allotments and food growing or have allotment plots themselves.

This project was funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and was supported by Food Futures and Lancaster City Council.

Book HERE by 3 June to support us in minimising food waste.

Booking is essential.
