Hand Tool Sharpening Workshop

If you are an allotment holder or involved in a community growing project and want to learn how to sharpen and care for your hand tools, then this is the workshop for you.

Led by Adam Sargent, who is an experienced green wood worker and facilitates spoon carving courses. Over the years he has gained an appreciation and practice of tool sharpening, which he is happy to share.

This workshop will explore the why’s, how’s and what to use for sharpening hand tools as well as tool maintenance. Time will also be provided for you to have a go safely yourself.

Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for this event, which will be held in an unheated polytunnel at Ambleside Road Allotments.

Please bring work gloves if you have them, one or two hand tools that you would like to work on e.g secrateurs, sheers, spades, turf cutters and any sharpening stones/files/tools that you use at present on your tools.

Some sharpening tools and gloves will be provided, if you don’t have these.
