The Lancaster Health Festival will return to our fine city once again, celebrating and rediscovering the art of living.
Events will take place online and through physically distanced activities between 29th July – 1st August 2021 and will be complemented by the release of a series of podcasts and online video content that explore a range of topics linked to health and wellbeing and ‘the lost art of living’. Themes for the 2021 Health Festival include: local food for local people and the planet; community health: music, art and having fun; and taking mental health seriously.
The Lancaster Health Festival has one very simple aim: to create spaces and opportunities for people to have conversations – easy or difficult – with family, friends, neighbors, and with ourselves. We want these conversations to help us make simple changes that will have a big effect: rediscovering the art of living well. We feel this is more important than ever given the ongoing pandemic and the questions it raises around this year’s themes. The festival also seeks to support a shift in perspective towards more healthy lifestyles and a preventative approach to health care.
The seed of the health festival was planted in 2016, with the first festival taking place in September 2017 and engaging 500 people. It has since taken place annually and engaged more than 7000 people over the years, whilst embedding a tasty food theme into each year’s festivities. We trialled the first online festival in 2020, and we hope to build on this learning in 2021 – expanding the reach and accessibility of the festival whilst also offering in-person events once again. You can find last year’s podcasts at www.thelancasterhealthfestival.org.uk
The programme will once again be created and derived from the organisations, businesses and campaign groups that work in North Lancashire around health and wellbeing and sustainable food. The health festival coordination team have therefore shared an open invite for session proposals for the 2021 Lost Art of Living Health Festival.
If you have an idea for a session or podcast topic that you would like to run please complete the following form by the 25th April 2021: https://forms.gle/Rt8BmmxrgGMc5Dph8
Session proposals and answers will be reviewed by the Lancaster Health Festival team by the 7th May in order to pull together a varied programme that is shared widely in June and July. All events will be free to attend and we hope there will be something that interests everyone.
