On 1 June LESS took over a small one-acre site at Old Holly Farm – an organic dairy farm south of Lancaster near Garstang. They are now looking for a grower and trainer to support the project’s development.
Now known as ‘The Plot’, LESS plan to turn these two paddocks into a productive market-garden and ‘springboard’ for further market gardens – growing organic fruit and vegetables for sale locally whilst brokering new sites and training a new generation of ecological growers.
LESS is now looking for a talented and experienced grower and trainer to lead the set-up of the site and to deliver the training programme for new growers from January 2021.
They are seeking someone with a track record in running small-scale commercial agricultural enterprises and a talented and engaging trainer; someone who is passionate about sharing their experience and inspiring the next generation of growers.
The Plot’s Vision
With time, The Plot will become a thriving demonstration farm which re- connects people with food, land, seasonality and nature; trains and inspires people in innovative and ecological farming approaches; trades and collaborates ethically within our local and wider food systems.
It will build environmental health and local wealth, and in a collaborative, open and equitable way, enable regeneration and resilience in the local food supply.
