Feasibility work begins for a local food hub and community farm
LESS (Lancaster District) CIC has secured UK Shared Prosperity Funding from the UK Government to coordinate the scoping and implementation of a food hub and community farm. The project is being delivered with support from Closing Loops, a collaborative work programme to stimulate a thriving local economy in North Lancashire, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
The feasibility work will explore the development of a food hub – new social infrastructure for local food producers to get produce to market, supporting distribution and logistics and enhancing the local economy. Alongside this, scoping work will be done for a new community farm which will provide a training and education centre and will act as an exemplar agro-ecological farming site.
We are now seeking a freelance researcher to support the feasibility work, and expert input for the project. Deadline for applications, 9.30am Wednesday, 11 October.
