Local Nature Recovery Strategy in Horticulture – meeting for commercial growers, allotmenteers, community garden/projects

Lancashire County Council is leading on the preparation of a Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) – something that is happening in every county throughout England this year.

The LNRS will:

  • agree priorities for nature’s recovery in Lancashire;
  • map the most important areas for nature now in Lancashire;
  • map specific proposals for creating or improving natural habitats and or contributing to wider environmental goals.

LNRSs are non-binding and do not create new legally protected areas, but could create opportunities for farmers, growers and land managers to access private finance and different funding streams in the future.

 We welcome this opportunity to talk to people involved in horticulture (including commercial growers, allotmenteers, community gardens or growing projects) in Lancaster District or wider Lancashire area (at any scale) to:

  • share more information about the Local Nature Recovery Strategy for Lancashire  (including links to potential future funding opportunities)
  • explain how you can provide information and ideas to inform the development of the strategy
  • find out what has supported you to take action to support nature and biodiversity as part of or alongside your growing AND what support could help you to do more of this in the future

The meeting will take place in central Lancaster on Thursday 18th July from 7pm to 9pm – a hot supper will be provided

If are interested in attending please sign up via Eventbrite here.  We will let you have exact venue details as soon as these are confirmed.
