Lake District Retreat: SOIL SOUL SOCIETY Wisdom for our Times with Satish Kumar

WEEKEND RETREAT – an inspiring and transformative weekend with Satish in the beauty of the English Lake District.

By SOPHIA Sanctuary CIC

As Satish shares deep wisdom from his life of campaigning for ecological regeneration, social justice and spiritual fulfilment, this retreat invites us to allow our heads to embrace his wisdom, our hearts to open to his call to radical love and our whole being to contemplate how we can show up most powerfully to meet the times that we are part of.

‘Peace-pilgrim, life-long activist, and former monk, Satish Kumar has been inspiring global change for over 50 years. He undertook a pilgrimage for peace, walking for two years without money from India to America for the cause of nuclear disarmament. Now in his 80s, Satish has devoted his life to campaigning for ecological regeneration and social justice. He is a world-renown author and international speaker, founder of The Resurgence Trust and Editor Emeritus of Resurgence & Ecologist – a change-making magazine he edited for over 40 years.

Satish continues to teach, run workshops, and write about reverential ecology, holistic education and voluntary simplicity and is a much sought-after international speaker and author.’

Over the weekend, talks by Satish will be woven around time and space – to reflect, to share, to engage with others, to notice what is emerging in you and to discern what is yours to do.

Satish will share teaching from his philosophy of life that he lives and breathes through his work and through his writing.

Amongst others, he will draw reflections from:

Satish is well known for his epic walk for world peace in his youth in the 1960s from India to the nuclear capitals of Moscow, Paris, London, and Washington, DC.

Wherever he travelled, he found that human beings were capable of a love that could overcome hatred and division.

We will sit with Satish around a campfire as he shares the story of his journey on foot from Delhi to Washington. He will recall some of the people he met along the way and the conversations they shared and how it has led him to view the whole of his life as a pilgrim journey.
