Growing Our FoodFutures: A day of connecting, dreaming and planning next steps for growing a “thriving local food system that is healthy, resilient and fair”

In 2021 ‘Our Food Futures: A community food strategy for North Lancashire’ was published (see foodfutures.org.uk/food-strategy).

This kickstarted a range of exciting community-led and collaborative projects and activities across the District, including the Lancaster District Food Justice Partnership; the food club network; THRIVE Magazine; Where The Wildings Are school project; The Plot’s FarmStart scheme and the Closing Loops projects, just to name a few…

It’s now time to come together, build new connections, reflect and learn from what has been achieved so far and plan next steps.

Hosted by Jamie Murphy and Anna Clayton from FoodFutures, this is a day for connecting, dreaming and planning next steps for growing a “thriving local food system that is healthy, resilient and fair”.

This event is open to everyone – from those who run community food projects and have never identified with FoodFutures; through to those who have been involved with FoodFutures since the beginning or those who just want to find out what is going on. You are very welcome.

Lunch, drinks and refreshments will be provided.

Booking is essential to help us adapt the event and reduce food waste.

The day’s sessions will include:

> Time travelling, sharing ideas and celebrating what’s happening already.

> Eating and sharing good food.

> Workshops around: developing a food hub; evolving the Where The WIldings Are school project; developing a network-wide research strategy; offering effective emergency food support; setting up a community farm; waste stream mapping; community engagement strategies; buying and shaping a community farm; developing a Good Food Manifesto network and MORE.

There will also be tables for groups to display project information and share leaflets, posters and resources from all kinds of foodie projects.

Arrive from 9:30 for a 10am start.

* This event and the development of FoodFutures’ research strategy is supported by funding from UCLan’s PACT Institute in collaboration with Mags Adams.
