Share the Harvest is a campaign that encourages everyone in North Lancashire to harvest, use, eat and celebrate seasonal fruit in autumn. The focus of Share the Harvest is on apples, but other (seasonal) fruit, nuts and vegetables are equally welcome to be included in events and activities.

Share the Harvest takes the form of a seasonal festival during September and October, and all community groups, organisations, businesses and individuals in the North Lancashire region are invited to participate.

There are many ways to get involved, and support is available for community groups for covering event costs, promoting their events, recruiting volunteers and borrowing equipment for harvesting and processing fruit.

The North Lancashire Gleaning Network and the Share the Harvest campaign are coordinated by the Closing Loops project team. Closing Loops is a collaborative project created to stimulate a thriving local economy in North Lancashire.

How to get involved

There are many ways to get involved and do your bit to help rescue more seasonal fruit from going to waste:

  • Could you organise a glean of fruit trees in your neighbourhood or host a harvest event?
  • Or do you need some help harvesting or processing fruit from your garden or orchard?
  • Are you great at backing, cooking and preserving and would like to run a skillshare or workshop?
  • Or would you simply like to come along to an event as a gleaning volunteer?
