DESCRIPTION:\nHear from the authors of the local food infrastructure research, find out more about new Government funds available and collaborate on local\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nFor farmers, food partnerships and other farming and food organisations, the UK Government’s ‘Levelling Up’ agenda should present opportunities to invest in local food systems, for example through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the Community Ownership Fund.\nThis in-person workshop will explore the findings from a recent report on food infrastructure in Lancashire and be an opportunity to start building infrastructure proposals around the emerging themes, including:\n\nthe idea of local food hubs that have capacity to carry out processing, storage, packing, distribution, and selling capabilities\n\n\nmobile abattoirs, on-farm dairy processing, and vending machine equipment\n\n\nan ability to help farmers and growers access local or diversified markets and electrified distribution, and grow connections with local citizens\n\nThere will be facilitated discussions to seek collaborative opportunities to establish and grow more local food infrastructure, and potentially seek funding to do so.\nTo read the full report on infrastructure needed to support a more sustainable local food system, see here.\nThis event is aimed at people working in Lancashire including farmers, farmer network groups, food producers and processors, Food Partnerships and Local Enterprise Partnerships, and funders.\nThis event is being run by FoodFutures (North Lancashire’s Sustainable Food Network) and Sustain, is free and will take place in-person at Myerscough College (see event details and location on map).
